Will you be digging on my street or near my sidewalk?
All construction will be in the Public Utility Easement which is from the back of the curb or in the alley.
Will you be digging in my yard?
Yes.
Will it be noisy? What hours will you be working?
Please expect a little added traffic noise and some noise from the machinery that is needed to install the new fiber optic lines. Typical work days will be Monday - Friday starting at 7 and ending at sunset. The crews will also work some Saturdays. Working hours could change due to weather throughout the building process.
How long does the construction take per street?
Two weeks before Valley TeleCom gets to your street, they will hang a door knocker on your door making you aware that they will be coming to your area next.
This will depend on several factors so time will vary. The construction process will be done in 3 steps.
Drops to the home will be placed throughout steps 1 - 3. Valley TeleCom will not access your property unless they have received permission to do so.
How long after you build can I get service to my home?
If you have pre-signed up for service, you will be on the list to be scheduled for installation. A Valley representative will contact you and set up a date to have the service activated in your home. You may not get this call immediately after the drop to your home has been placed as the construction to the entire serving area has to be completed before service can be activated. Time-lines will vary depending on construction and splicing.
What are the markings or flags on my sidewalk and yard, do you remove it after construction?
The marks on the sidewalk and flags in your yard are the blue stake marks to help the construction crews identify where existing utilities are. The special paint will fade away with time. The flags will be taken down by our construction team as soon as they are complete.

What does Blue Stake Mean?
The blue stake marks all existing utilities located on each property. Blue Stake is another name for Arizona 811 (formerly Arizona Blue Stake). Arizona 811 is a non-profit communication center that provides pre-excavation/digging notification services to prevent injuries and damage to underground utilities in accordance with statutory requirements.
