The Greens vs. the Military
Dear Mr. Caruba:
Thank you for
your article. I am a property rights/wise use advocate, deeply
involved in the Klamath Basin crisis. I have been in the land use
fight long enough to see the ugly tentacles of environmental extremism spread
throughout our nation. Yet I find almost no one who is familiar
with the Wildlands Project, let alone Agenda 21. I show people Dr.
Michael Coffman's map showing the roughly 50% of America the Greens
want designated off-limits to human habitation or activity, and I get
blank stares in return.
I am grateful
to read another voice decrying the insanity of these alledgedly
conservation-minded policies. They are destroying the wealth producing
capability of this nation and its citizens, as well as castrating the
training ability of our military. I hope your article awakens the
right people in our leadership. These policies have nothing to do with
saving species or habitat, and everything to do about control.
The Endangered
Species Act, as intended, written and enforced, makes it all but
impossible to protect and restore threatened or endangered species.
Not one species has been delisted due to a successful federal policy.
Resultant losses of species and habitat have done nothing to curtail
the cancerous spread of this incredibly destructive Act, which expired
years ago, but which Congress is afraid to stop funding. The
Endangered Species Act is sucking the wealth and sovereignty from
this great land and its people, and must be repealed immediately.
I was so relieved
when President Bush was elected, but have grown terribly concerned
over his environmental policies, actions, and inactions. Conservation
Biology (a new science grounded in "opinions", not facts, is
devastating the wealth producing ability of our nation, in a great
many ways. In the case of Klamath Falls, the "biological
opinions" used to steal deeded water rights from farmers (many of
whom are veterans) are bogus. Their validity was challenged in the
strongest terms when reviewed by scientists at Oregon State University
before they were even published. The hubris of these new
"biologists", and the astounding BS in their
"opinions" are the very definition of environmental nazism.
In July, I wrote and asked how a God-fearing human being,
let alone the President of the United States, and the man whose
primary responsibility is the security of all Americans, could
turn away from these farmers and their families in the Klamath Basin.
I have yet to receive an answer.
I would like to
stand with the President right now, and give him the support he's
requested. This is a critical time for all Americans to band together,
and set aside our petty differences. The blood of our fellow citizens
demands it. It's important to all the world that we do so. Terrorism
is the greatest evil, whatever its source and manifestation, and must
be eradicated off the face of the Earth.
But how can our
men, especially in the West, march off to war, knowing their land,
their water rights, their civil liberties, and in some instances their children
are at risk of confiscation by the very government they're being asked
to defend? Who will fight against the domestic terrorists in our
government while they're away?
If President
Bush were nothing more than a typical politician, he wouldn't dream of
assaulting the "red" counties that voted for him. We in the
West, and others throughout this country, must be guaranteed cessation
of hostilities before we can go to war. Ironic? No; it's much
worse than that, and President Bush should be ashamed.
