The Interior Department announced last
month they will move to protect another 29 animal and plants under the
Endangered Species Act. Included on the list are three species for
emergency listing. Those are the pygmy rabbit in Washington state, the
Tumbling Creek cavesnail in Missouri and the Carson wandering skipper
butterfly in California and Nevada.
Despite the announcement, a spokesman for the Endangered Species
Coalition says his group will lobby for more. According to the
Nature Conservancy, up to 3,000 other species probably warrant
protection.
