President Bush Congratulates Conservancy on 50th Anniversary "The Nature Conservancy’s accomplishments over the last five decades are remarkable." So wrote President Bush in a recent letter congratulating The Nature Conservancy on its fiftieth anniversary. President Bush’s letter was personally presented to The Nature Conservancy’s President and CEO Steven J. McCormick last week by James Connaughton, the chairman of the administration’s Council on Environmental Quality. "We are very honored that the President recognized the Nature Conservancy as a ‘worldwide leader in protecting natural communities,’" said McCormick. "Throughout our history, The Nature Conservancy has worked effectively with administrations of both parties on important conservation matters," McCormick added. "We look forward to continue working with the current administration, and as the President writes, ‘with local communities and landowners’ to help advance environmental progress here in the U.S. and throughout the world."
